Bio
Shawn Schumacher is the owner of Champion City Half Trax and the current owner of Schumacher Construction Services, LLC, an East Texas civil and oilfield construction company. Shawn founded the company in 2005 and incorporated it in 2010. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance and is an active member of Central Baptist Church in Carthage.
In 2000, Shawn married his high school sweetheart, Kiley, and together they have built a life centered on faith, family, and community. They are the proud parents of four children: Si Lane, Zane, Eli, and Eden.
Shawn’s baseball journey began at Carthage High School, where he was a four-year letterman and earned All-State honors as catcher for the Bulldogs. He continued his baseball career at Panola College, where he was recognized as both an All-Conference and Junior College All-American player. During his time at Panola, Shawn was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates but chose instead to continue his education and collegiate career at Texas A&M University.
At Texas A&M, Shawn distinguished himself as one of the top players in the nation, earning All-Big 12, All-Regional, and All-American honors while helping lead the Aggies to the College World Series. His performance led to him becoming the first catcher selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1999 MLB Draft. Shawn played professionally in the Cardinals organization for four years until his baseball career was cut short following a multiple-bone leg fracture sustained during a collision at home plate.
Today, Shawn brings the same passion, leadership, and competitive spirit that defined his athletic and professional career into ownership of the Champion City Half Trax. Shawn and his family are incredibly excited for the opportunity to own and manage the organization and create an unforgettable experience for players, families, and the community. The management team, coaches, and staff are looking forward to an amazing season. Go Half Trax!
